Some results on the eigenfunctions of the quantum trigonometric Calogero-Sutherland model related to the Lie algebra E6
The quantum trigonometric Calogero-Sutherland models related to Lie algebras
admit a parametrization in which the dynamical variables are the characters of
the fundamental representations of the algebra. We develop here this approach
for the case of the exceptional Lie algebra E6.Comment: 17 pages, no figure
and bifurcations in rotational bands of diatomic molecules
It is shown that the recently observed bifurcation seen in
superdeformed nuclear bands is also occurring in rotational bands of diatomic
molecules. In addition, signs of a bifurcation, of the same order
of magnitude as the one, are observed both in superdeformed
nuclear bands and rotational bands of diatomic molecules.Comment: LaTex twice, 10 pages and 5 PS figures provided upon demand by the

Isotopic Production Cross Sections in Proton-Nucleus Collisions at 200 MeV
Intermediate mass fragments (IMF) from the interaction of Al,
Co and Au with 200 MeV protons were measured in an angular range
from 20 degree to 120 degree in the laboratory system. The fragments, ranging
from isotopes of helium up to isotopes of carbon, were isotopically resolved.
Double differential cross sections, energy differential cross sections and
total cross sections were extracted.Comment: accepted by Phys. Rev.
Spectroscopic Constants, Abundances, and Opacities of the TiH Molecule
Using previous measurements and quantum chemical calculations to derive the
molecular properties of the TiH molecule, we obtain new values for its
ro-vibrational constants, thermochemical data, spectral line lists, line
strengths, and absorption opacities. Furthermore, we calculate the abundance of
TiH in M and L dwarf atmospheres and conclude that it is much higher than
previously thought. We find that the TiH/TiO ratio increases strongly with
decreasing metallicity, and at high temperatures can exceed unity. We suggest
that, particularly for subdwarf L and M dwarfs, spectral features of TiH near
0.52 \mic, 0.94 \mic, and in the band may be more easily measureable
than heretofore thought. The recent possible identification in the L subdwarf
2MASS J0532 of the 0.94 \mic feature of TiH is in keeping with this
expectation. We speculate that looking for TiH in other dwarfs and subdwarfs
will shed light on the distinctive titanium chemistry of the atmospheres of
substellar-mass objects and the dimmest stars.Comment: 37 pages, including 4 figures and 13 tables, accepted to the

Staggering effects in nuclear and molecular spectra
It is shown that the recently observed Delta J = 2 staggering effect (i.e.
the relative displacement of the levels with angular momenta J, J+4, J+8, ...,
relatively to the levels with angular momenta J+2, J+6, J+10, ...) seen in
superdeformed nuclear bands is also occurring in certain electronically excited
rotational bands of diatomic molecules (YD, CrD, CrH, CoH), in which it is
attributed to interband interactions (bandcrossings). In addition, the Delta J
= 1 staggering effect (i.e. the relative displacement of the levels with even
angular momentum J with respect to the levels of the same band with odd J) is
studied in molecular bands free from Delta J = 2 staggering (i.e. free from
interband interactions/bandcrossings). Bands of YD offer evidence for the
absence of any Delta J = 1 staggering effect due to the disparity of nuclear
masses, while bands of sextet electronic states of CrD demonstrate that Delta J
= 1 staggering is a sensitive probe of deviations from rotational behaviour,
due in this particular case to the spin-rotation and spin-spin interactions.Comment: LaTeX, 16 pages plus 30 figures given in separate .ps files. To

mockrobiota: a Public Resource for Microbiome Bioinformatics Benchmarking.
Mock communities are an important tool for validating, optimizing, and comparing bioinformatics methods for microbial community analysis. We present mockrobiota, a public resource for sharing, validating, and documenting mock community data resources, available at http://caporaso-lab.github.io/mockrobiota/. The materials contained in mockrobiota include data set and sample metadata, expected composition data (taxonomy or gene annotations or reference sequences for mock community members), and links to raw data (e.g., raw sequence data) for each mock community data set. mockrobiota does not supply physical sample materials directly, but the data set metadata included for each mock community indicate whether physical sample materials are available. At the time of this writing, mockrobiota contains 11 mock community data sets with known species compositions, including bacterial, archaeal, and eukaryotic mock communities, analyzed by high-throughput marker gene sequencing. IMPORTANCE The availability of standard and public mock community data will facilitate ongoing method optimizations, comparisons across studies that share source data, and greater transparency and access and eliminate redundancy. These are also valuable resources for bioinformatics teaching and training. This dynamic resource is intended to expand and evolve to meet the changing needs of the omics community
Quantum response of weakly chaotic systems
Chaotic systems, that have a small Lyapunov exponent, do not obey the common
random matrix theory predictions within a wide "weak quantum chaos" regime.
This leads to a novel prediction for the rate of heating for cold atoms in
optical billiards with vibrating walls. The Hamiltonian matrix of the driven
system does not look like one from a Gaussian ensemble, but rather it is very
sparse. This sparsity can be characterized by parameters and that
reflect the percentage of large elements, and their connectivity respectively.
For we use a resistor network calculation that has direct relation to the
semi-linear response characteristics of the system.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, expanded improved versio
Lead palladium titanate : a room temperature nanoscale multiferroic thin film
The authors acknowledge the financial support from the Department of Defense, USA (DoD Grant No. FA9550-16-1-0295).The discovery of single-phase multiferroic materials and the understanding of coupling mechanisms between their spin and polarization is important from the point of view of next generation logic and memory devices. Herein we report the fabrication, dielectric, ferroelectric, piezo-response force microscopy, and magnetization measurements of Pd-substituted room-temperature magnetoelectric multiferroic PbPd0.3Ti0.7O3 (PbPdT) thin films. Highly oriented PbPdT thin films were deposited on {(LaAlO3)0.3(Sr2AlTaO6)0.7} (LSAT) substrates in oxygen atmosphere using pulsed laser deposition technique. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the films had tetragonal phase with (001) orientation. Surface morphology studies using atomic force and scanning electron microscopy suggest a smooth and homogeneous distribution of grains on the film surface with roughness ~2 nm. A large dielectric constant of ~1700 and a low-loss tangent value of ~0.3 at 10 kHz were obtained at room temperature. Temperature dependent dielectric measurements carried out on Pt/PbPdT/La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) metal-dielectric-metal capacitors suggest a ferroelectric to paraelectric transition above 670 K. The measured polarization hysteresis loops at room temperature were attributed to its ferroelectric behavior. From a Tauc plot of (αhν)2 versus energy, the direct band gap Eg of PbPdT thin films was calculated as 3 eV. Ferroelectric piezoelectric nature of the films was confirmed from a strong domain switching response revealed from piezo-response force microscopy. A well-saturated magnetization M-H loop with remanent magnetization of 3.5 emu/cm3 was observed at room temperature, and it retains ferromagnetic ordering in the temperature range 5–395 K. Origin of the magnetization could be traced to the mixed oxidation states of Pd2+/Pd4+ dispersed in polar PbTiO3 matrix, as revealed by our x-ray photoelectron spectroscopic results. These results suggest that PbPdT thin films are multiferroic (ferroelectric-ferromagnetic) at room temperature.Publisher PDFPeer reviewe
Waveguide-coupled detector in zero-change complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor
We report a waveguide-coupled photodetector realized in a standard CMOS foundry without requiring changes to the process flow (zero-change CMOS). The photodetector exploits carrier generation in the silicon-germanium normally utilized as stressor in pFETs. The measured responsivity and 3 dB bandwidth are of 0.023 A/W at a wavelength of 1180 nm and 32 GHz at −1 V bias (18 GHz at 0 V bias). The dark current is less than 10 pA and the dynamic range is larger than 60 dB.United States. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
